Walk With Us 2023

Just Caring Midlands has been walking with vulnerable adults for 10 years!

To celebrate and to fundraise towards our new HUB Building we are inviting our supporters to Walk With Us on a 10 mile sponsored walk around South Birmingham on Saturday 27th May.  This will be a family friendly day with a treasure hunt style challenge with things to find and photograph – with a prize for the entry with the most points!

For those who feel 10 miles might be a bit too far there is the option to join us for lunch at Rowheath Pavilion or to walk with us for the final  3.5 mile section from the Pavilion to the finish.

We hope this post will answer most of the questions you may have but please feel free to get in touch with us to find out more: our email address is admin@justcaring.org.uk or you can call us on 07986631887

Don’t forget to let us know if you’re planning on joining us – this will be really helpful for us to plan the day.

Thank you for continuing to walk with us,

The Just Caring Team

Fundraising

There are several options for how we will aim to fundraise through this walk:

  • Traditional sponsorship forms are available here.
  • We have set up a Give As You Live sponsorship page which will collect donations – you can find this here.
  • You can use the Give As You Live page to set up your own online fundraising page so you can keep a tally of how much sponsorship you have raised.
  • If you don’t want to collect sponsorship you can make a donation to take part
  • Or if you aren’t able to make a donation please just come and walk with us – it will be a real encouragement to us to see you there!
  • Plus don’t forget to share about the walk with your friends and family on social media.  Here are some banners and a QR code to help spread the word:

The Walk

We will be starting and finishing at our Gardening Project in the Y Park on Green Meadow Road (B29 4DS).  We will aim to:

  • Gather at the Gardening Project from 9:30am
  • Start the walk at 10am
  • Reach our lunch stop at Rowheath Pavilion by 1pm
  • Resume walking at 2pm
  • Finish at 3:30pm

Please note:

  • We have done our best to plan a route taking in as many parks and green areas as we can. The majority of the walking will be on well-made paths but there are sections that may be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear.
  • We have tried to ensure that safe road crossings are used wherever possible but parents still must take responsibility for children when near traffic or other hazards (for example canals and lakes).
  • Toilet facilities will be available in the morning at Victoria Common in Northfield and at Rowheath Pavilion at lunch. There will also be facilities available in Shenley Court Hall when we start and finish.

What to Bring With You

  • A camera/smartphone to take photos for the challenge
  • A pen to write down answers for the challenge
  • Sensible walking clothes – including good shoes
  • Preparations for whatever the weather brings (suncream/waterproofs)
  • Lunch
  • Water to drink
  • High energy snacks
  • A smile and a willingness to encourage others 😊
